My Junkin Trip

In my town we have a heavy trash pickup week. This is an awesome time to drive up and down every alley way for great junkin pieces. Below are some pictures of pieces I got for FREE all in one day! I love that I was able to save all these pieces from going into a landfill and will be able re-purpose each one.

I Shutter to Think..,

I found this one shutter in an alley, in a trash can and my inner trash digger said "I want that.". It already had a great deep green paint finish so I decided to do a dry brushing technique to accent it. To do that you simply take a dry brush and just dab on some paint and brush it onto the wood. Your not wanting to cover the whole project, just brush in the color here and there. It gives a great layered look and I love the turquoise color which resembles patina on metal. I ended up using the shutter as a decoration on my front porch and I love it. Total cost is probably about $.50 (for a few ounces of paint).

Welcome to Booth #278

I have a booth that I share with my sister-in-law at Tradebakers in Evansville, Indiana. We love to find great deals at yard sales, estate sales and thrift shows and then fix it up to sale again.

Before and After

I bought these gold plastic wall hangings for $.25 each at a yard sale. I simply spray painted them with primer and then a high gloss black. Now they make a great wall hanging for above a master bedroom or maybe hang on each side of a window. I loved this easy up cycled project. They also sold in one day at my booth!

Trash to Junkin Treasure

Im driving down a short cut side road and out of the corner of my eye I spy a piece of furniture in an alley. My first thought; Jackpot! Do you ever feel this way about someone else's trash? If you do then your reading the right blog. This is my first post on my Junkin blog. I plan to make this my new passion to pass on all my ideas to other Junkers and to gathers tips as well. Thanks for reading my blog and happy junkin!
